Wednesday 3/15/17 was the 3rd anniversary of the passing of my dearest friend. Three and a half years ago she made the decision to change her life. She realized if she wanted to live she would have to makes some drastic changes to her diet and overall health. She was finally excited and was getting ready to embark on a complete makeover of her diet only to learn that she had cancer and it was terminal. We have these great expectations of our life as to what should happen or at least what we want to happen and yet something completely different happens. This is when we really need to look at our life and figure out and decide how we are going to make those changes and make the things that we want to happen actually happen. We all have the power to do that; we just need to dig deep and find a place within us that is going to allow us to do it. I believe in the expression, “when the world gives you lemons you make lemonade.” I think it’s true. I think the problem with most of us is that we want instant gratification. If it does not happen at the rate that we want it to, we give up. It’s one of the reasons why so many unnecessary psychotropic medications are prescribed to children, young adults and adults. No one has the patience anymore to actually figure out and change the things that need to be changed. Having patience to figure out and then make changes to enhance your life is the only way, in my opinion, to make lasting and positive change. If you do not do this, you are going to stay in the abyss and just continue to chase your own tail and repeat and repeat the same things over and over and never understand why. You have to make it stop, which means you have to really look. You need to look at your fears. You have to embrace those fears. It’s only when you embrace those fears that you can actually say, “OK” this is what I need to change. This is what I need to do. It’s not what can “you” do for me but what can “I” do for myself. And I think you need to start small. I think starting with your health is key because mind body and soul is the strength; it is the medication that can allow you to power through anything in your life. The Moon is in Sagittarius. Always listen.
There are times in your life no matter how motivated you are to run, you just have to step back and listen to your body and stop. It’s knowing the difference between pushing yourself to get past the fatigue and pushing yourself to the point of making an injury worse. It is knowing the difference between the two. Both are very powerful healing tools. Running this past week was really hard for me because I had some hip pain. It is the second time I am experiencing pain within six months. Ugh! so once again no street running. I had to allow myself to be OK with that and make peace with it instead of fighting it. I am very grateful for the gym. ”Peace begins with you”. Before we can make deep changes in our lives we have to look at our diet, and our way of consuming. Do we exercise, how do we exercise. What is the dialogue that we have with ourselves. We must acknowledge this. We have to live in such a way that we stop consuming the things that poison us and intoxicates our, mind, body and soul. We need to stop the cycle of self-abuse. We need to be honest with ourselves. Otherwise, we make excuses so that we do not have to make any changes. It fatigues us. I say stop the madness. When we can do that, then we will have the strength to allow the best in us to emerge and we will no longer be victims of frustration and self hate. The Moon is in Gemini it’s a fun placement, so it can be a good time to experiment with food and exercise to help with the restlessness, Just be careful because we tend to want two of everything. Simplicity
Before the sunrises, there is nothing like the simplicity of a 8 mile run👣 in a very complex city. The Moon is in Taurus. A very practical, steadfast moon. In Taurus we feel secure and well rooted and tend to resist change. So sit back, and enjoy a healthy meal and listen to some good music and appreciate the beauty of life. Enjoy☮️
Ketosis state of mind
Yesterday I ran over the Manahttan bridge. It’s not as pretty as running over the Brooklyn bridge but for some reason I like it better. I think it is because there is not as many people and I can really meditate while running. I highly recommend meditation running. Wow! It is amazing. When I started off running I had my the normal mental chatter. I was thinking how I am keeping up my running 👣45-50 miles per week. Then I started thinking about my new years resolutions and am I sticking to them. One of my resolution promises is as I move closer to my sixth decade is to function, more than I already have been, in a ketosis state of mind. This is when I feel my best. Please note this is only my opinion for me. I do not suggest this for you. I only share my opinion. I am not an expert in ketosis. I just know what works for me. For me my energy is off the chart when I am in a ketosis state of mind, energy, clarity and calm. This is because all my energy is coming from fat, ketogenesis. I eat clean. I do not eat anything processed or any sugar at all, my carbs are naturally low. I also eat lots of raw foods. Fruit is my natural candy. I do not deprive myself anything, therefore I do most of my own baking and cooking. I cannot suggest or I will not suggest any type of low carb diet, because I do not believe in diets. Diets do not work. But I will say this, when running the mental clarity is amazing. After all my thoughts, I find myself just with breath. It really is a pure “natural high”. It does not get much better than this. The Moon is in Aquarius, tendancy to demand freedom and uniqueness. Enjoy☮️ 
Why do you run
I was thinking about a question I was asked by Tribesport to describe why I run in 3 words. I replied Peace, Love, Happiness. What 3 words describe your running, wether you run indoors, outdoors or pool jog? It’s a real meditative question. It made me think about how difficult it is to stay in the present moment when there is so much outside interference. But when you really think about it, that is all we have. Most of us take life for granted. We have so much going on within our mind that we do not stop and think that life is not promised to us. Life is a gift. I am not suggesting that we go around thinking about death and how short life really is. Instead, think about how wonderful you would feel if when you opened your eyes and took a breath you remembered that breath is the gift of life. Just think about how that could actually affect the way you go through your day. Instead of the interference of your thoughts controlling your behavior, imagine actually being in sync mind, body and soul with your morals and values. Having this type of practice brings such clarity. Isn’t that what we want especially when trying to make sense of a senseless world? It is a challenge. But like any practice it takes a real commitment. In the book the Power of Compassion, the Dalai Lama says, “the supreme source of my happiness…is my calmness of mind” (50). The Moon is in Capricorn. This is a time to be practical and to take charge. Enjoy☮️
Running to be free
Running for me is so much more than an exercise or a sport. For me it is freedom. Free to hear the words of silence, that brings me closer to the truth of who I am. It allows me to be honest and free of where I am from, where I am now and where I am heading. Sometimes the words and the reflections of the inner truth is so painful. Sometimes it is so painful it takes my breath away and all I can hear is the beating of my own heart. Instead of sweat dripping, I sweat tears of joy & pain. But it is always worth it in the end
Staying strong
When you least want to run/exercise is when you should. Just do it. It is in that moment that your senses open up. It is that moment when you feel the depths of your strength. Strength is not how much you can bench press or how many squats you can do. Strength is overcoming the negativity of your own mental chatter. We can make all the excuses in the world, but the reality is we ourselves get in our own way. And only we can push through the blockage.
Mind, body and soul connection

If you fall you do not say ” I should have picked myself up” “maybe tomorrow I will pick myself up.” You just pick yourself up. It is the same with getting healthy. You start right where you are. There is no moment before the moment you are in. There is no yesterday or tomorrow. You only have the “now”, think about how true that is. The beginning is wherever you are at the time you decide to start. There are no do overs, or replays but there is always the beginning.
